Product Introduction
Potassium silicate is a colorless or slightly yellowish, translucent to transparent liquid with hygroscopic properties. It has a pH value between 11 and 12 and a relative density ranging from 1.16 to 1.45 (at 20°C). It exhibits strong alkalinity and decomposes in acids, precipitating silica. It dissolves slowly in cold water—or is practically insoluble, depending on its composition—and is insoluble in ethanol.
The higher the modulus of potassium silicate, the greater its viscosity and strength, and the faster the drying rate. Conversely, the lower the modulus, the better its film-forming properties, but the slower the drying rate.
